Stathern War Memorial Institute (WMI) Village Hall

The Little hall with a Big heart' was built in 1919, in memory of those in the village who served and died in World War I. Over the decades, the WMI has hosted many village events and activities and it has been maintained and extended by a succession of dedicated committees.
I was invited to join the current committee last year and (as you might expect!) we have a number of plans afoot: improvements, both large and small, ongoing maintenance and lots of ideas gathered from the community for new activities.
For me it feels particularly pertinent to try to offer more ways to bring people together as we emerge from the coronavirus lockdown, building on the village’s special community spirit and true neighbourliness – both of which have shone bright in these difficult times. Income from hall hire, support from the village for our special events throughout the year, sponsorships and donations, including those linked challenges such as my LEJOG, will provide the funds to help bring our ideas to life.
