LEJOG Day 14 Progress
Day 14 LEJOG - Saturday 26th September 2020
Another long day with lots of miles (87) finishing in the dark on the Snaith above Bonar Bridge. Spectacular views abounded and thus more photo stops
The first section of 25 miles was up the north side (the busy road) of Loch Ness but it was a good road and traffic was modest. The first stop was in Drumnadrochit where we had overnighted with the second section running along Loch Ness into Inverness, a lovely town.
Cycling out of Inverness we climbed to Dingwall above the Cromarty Firth and once again had beautiful views.
As you can see from the elevation chart below the end of the ride took the girls up onto the Snaith. Initially it was intended to stop at circa 75 miles but as the road into Bonar Bridge was supposedly downhill the girls soldiered on. However it got very dark and Fiona's chain came off which was troublesome to put on in the dark.
Nevertheless they made it and we stayed at the Dunroamin Inn but were too late for a meal so, yes, you guessed it, another Chinese.
In the morning the excellent hosts advised that Sunday meant that nothing would be open further North - civilization stopped at Bonar Bridge! (but see tomorrow).
