LEJOG Day 1 Progress
Day 1 LEJOG - Sunday 13th September 2020
A glorious day began with a send off from Michelle Brown the Lay Worship Leader at Sennen Church at the ioconic sign post specially set up for Alison and Fiona.
The early part of the ride was pretty straightforward to give a gentle start BUT it soon chnaged after Marazion with the plentiful Cornish hills; not too big but steep up and down.
Had a lunch stop at Stithians but they had to rush for King Harry's ferry which apparently stopped at 14:00. Made it but the climb out of the valley was brutal. Met the entourage at Tregony for another short break before cycling on to our first night stop at St Austel.
Had a lovely dinner at Kingswood Bar & Restauarant which is an oasis in the area. Hoping fpr a good night's sleep but the Travelodge was incredibly hot and airless!!
Some words from Alison
A day of short, sharp and sometimes scarily steep hills up and down through tree dappled sunlight, narrow country lanes. Nice 8% descent into St Austell on an A road with a bubble bath beckoning.
As we left Lands End so Chrissie Murray was attempting to do the same in 52 hours!! as a LEJOG world record attempt. She'll finish before we complete our day 3
